The first responder course is designed to teach advanced First Aid and CPR training for public safety personnel, athletic trainers and emergency response teams. In this 80 hour course, students will learn basic and advanced First Aid skills, CPR for the professional rescuer, infection control procedures, how to perform automated external defibrillation, assist in childbirth, advanced splinting and bandaging, multiple casualty triage, and emergency scene management. This course meets or exceeds the guidelines established by OSHA on blood bourne pathogen transmission and the U.S. Department of Transportation first responder guidelines. Students will be certified in CPR, and receive certification by the Red Cross as a First Responder.
