MEDICAL ASSISTANT :
Course Description  

Medical assistants are multi-skilled professionals who are trained to handle a variety of duties. These practitioners work primarily in ambulatory settings such as medical offices and clinics and also will have the qualifications to work as a Patient Care Assistant in a hospital. This 224 hour course consists of 144 hours of class/lab time and 80 hours of clinical time. Topics covered include how to perform clinical procedures such as; assisting with examinations, removing sutures, changing sterile dressings, drawing blood samples, and performing EKGs. Students will be prepared for an entry level position as a medical assistant.
